In the last issue of Focus on the Coast Weddings, we featured a doughnut hole cake that is perfect for your next party! It is a simple show stopper that all of your guests are sure to enjoy. Honestly, the hardest step in the process is calling ahead to your local doughnut shop and making sure they can accommodate your doughnut hole order. It should take 1 hour from start to finish. Happy “cake” making!
1 Styrofoam cone (any craft store should have these)
(17 7/8″ X 4 15/16″ In)
150 doughnut holes (we bought ours from Dunkin Donuts- make sure to call ahead and make sure they have enough)
Wash your hands
then take your cone and start inserting the toothpicks along the base.
It will take multiple toothpicks per doughnut hole. So just scatter them throughout.
Start sticking doughnut holes onto toothpicks.
I found it easier to do this in segments than all at once (you will be way less likely to get stabbed by a toothpick). I started at the bottom and worked my way up – if you are using glazed doughnut holes then I recommend having wet wipes ready! Your hands will get pretty sticky.
Continue filling in the styrofoam cone until no white space is left.
Once the cone is full you can leave it as is or add flowers!
That’s it! It really is that simple.
